The Swainsons were long established in Calderbridge before Richard became the Vicar of Hawkshead in 1714.  Sadly, he was not to have a long life.

Richard's sons moved to Whitehaven and it was there that generations of the family lived. Two daughters remained in Lancashire, whilst one moved far away from her home in the north.

While many of the family remained in Whitehaven, a few did move away - Scarborough and Wales being two examples.
